Friar talk: Doc's book on Tyson Ross

In 11 career appearances against the Dodgers, nine starts, Tyson Ross is winless: 0-7 with a 3.50 ERA in 59 1/3 innings after Los Angeles paraded 12 baserunners (nine hits, one walk, two hit batters) around him in his first Opening Day start.

Eight runs crossed the plate in 5 1/3 innings. Sixty-one of his 94 pitches were strikes, 49 were fastballs, 38 sliders, three were cutters and one was a change-up, according to brooksbaseball.net.

In other words, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts kinda knew what he was talking about when he broke down a pregame scouting report for a pitcher who evolved into an upper-tier pitcher while in San Diego.
