LAKE ELSINORE — Greg Allen led off the California-Carolina All-Star Game here on Tuesday night by swinging at and missing the first two pitches from right-hander Chris Huffman.
Then Allen went to work.
He watched Hoffman’s next four pitches miss the late — outside, inside, up and down — and trotted down to first base with a walk.
Allen stole second base on the next pitch. He stole third on the pitch after that. And one out later, Carolina had the lead when Allen strolled home on a sacrifice fly. It started Carolina on its way to a 6-4 win.
