Well, it took about half of a year, but the Milwaukee Brewers finally got their man. Back when Pat Murphy was still managing the El Paso Chihuahuas this spring -- with Bud Black still in charge of the Padres' bench -- the Brewers requested to interview Murphy to serve as their bench coach, and were shot down. This led to speculation that Black was on the hot seat, and Murphy was being retained to serve as his replacement. One month later those murmurs became reality, but Murphy finished the season with a worse record than Black, and was cut loose immediately following the season's last game.
