Skip Schumaker served as a coach for the San Diego Padres since the beginning of the 2018 season as the first base coach under Andy Green. Then, the Padres retained him as Jayce Tingler’s associate manager.
A.J. Preller said that all coaches were able to go seek new jobs, including Skip Schumaker, who is reportedly heading to the St. Louis Cardinals to be Oliver Marmol’s bench coach, according to Rob Rains of STLSportsPage.com. Marmol was promoted after Mike Schildt was let go by the organization for philosophical differences.
Schumaker is seen as future big league manager so he could land a managing job in the next few years.
