Fernando Tatis Jr. scores go-ahead run, hits two homers to lead Padres over Cubs

Manny Machado worked an 11-pitch walk with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. The walk resulted in Chicago Cubs Manager Craig Counsell taking starting pitcher Jameson Taillon out of the game with his team leading, 3-1. By the time the inning ended, the San Diego Padres had tied the game, 3-3.

Machado was intentionally walked in the bottom of the seventh inning to load the bases with no outs. The move backfired on the Cubs when relief pitcher Nate Pearson threw a wild pitch, allowing Fernando Tatis Jr. to score to give the Padres a 4-3 lead.
