Fauci sees way for baseball to be played this summer without fans

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, envisions a way baseball could return this season with participants under strict control and without fans at games.

In an interview posted Wednesday on Vanity Fair’s website, the man who has in many ways been the face of the United States’ COVID-19 fight indicated a level of uncertainty about sports returning this year. But Fauci did outline what he said was a possible procedure akin to what Major League Baseball has proposed: The possibility of isolating players and other team personnel and staging all games in Arizona.
