SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State University marching band and mascots from various Major League teams welcomed hundreds of fans pouring into the San Diego Convention Center on Friday morning for the grand opening of the MLB All-Star FanFest, signaling that Tuesday's All-Star Game presented by MasterCard is nearly here.
All-Star Game spokesmen Trevor Hoffman and Dave Winfield, Padres CEO Mike Dee and MLB COO Tony Petitti participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to begin All-Star Week in front of the gathering of eager fans.
"We always talk about this being a week of activity, not just the [All-Star] Game and the Home Run Derby," Dee said.
