Dodgers use home runs to handle Paddack, Padres

LOS ANGELES —

It was an inning unlike any Chris Paddack had endured.

At the start of it, the Padres rookie had not allowed the Dodgers a hit. When it was over, he had allowed more runs than he had in any previous game and half as many as he had all season.

The kid with “Relentless” stitched in cursive on his glove faced a collection of hitters that are very much that.

The Dodgers beat the Padres 6-3, pouncing on a rare Manny Machado error and a rare night in which Paddack was not entirely sharp.
