Dinelson Lamet stepped on the mound and took his next step.
After the Rockies scored three runs, two of them unearned, in the first two innings of Friday night’s game, Lamet got through the next four innings without allowing a run to complete his third quality start in his past six outings.
“You’re talking about somebody that’s just coming back from (Tommy John surgery),” manager Andy Green said after the Padres’ 3-2 loss. “He’s back here pitching consistently. He’s throwing 90 to 100 pitches after missing a full season. We’re very encouraged by that.”
While his numbers this season are practically a side note, the Padres certainly are pleased Lamet’s results have been trending the right direction.
