The Padres (8-3) kicked off their four-game road series with a big 6-2 victory over the Pirates (3-7) on Monday afternoon that included a career-high tying five runs driven in by Wil Myers and seven innings of lockdown pitching by Yu Darvish.
Darvish finished his third start of the year with six strikeouts, allowing just one run and walking one. Austin Adams followed him with a pair of K’s and Keone Kela closed out the final inning with a lone strikeout.
Jake Cronenworth recorded another two hits against Pittsburgh, upping his season total to a team-leading 15 hits through 11 games.
