Let’s talk about Wil Myers, a Padres outfielder under contract through 2022.
He has 11 homers in 201 at-bats. That’s a solid return.
He earns walks at a decent clip. He can play all three outfield spots plus first base.
On the other hand, more than 40 percent of Myers’ at-bats this year have ended in a strikeout.
That would seem hard on a hitter’s psyche. And the flailing can’t be good for the back and shoulders, body parts that have ailed Myers, 28, in other years.
An interesting piece to the team’s puzzle, Myers and his contract raise several questions and some Padres history.
