If this is indeed Bruce Bochy’s final season of a managerial career that will enshrine the longtime San Diegan in Cooperstown, hats off to Giants players for giving Bochy, 64, an exciting surge this summer.
“It’s a fun team to manage,” Bochy said Sunday after 7-6 victory at Petco Park secured his team’s fifth consecutive series victory.
The Giants have won 19 of 24 games, lifting themselves out of last place and into the fringes of the wild-card race.
Padres ownership is doing right by Bochy, too.
The team honored him before Friday’s game, gifting him with a sweet set of fishing rods and a photo montage of his Padres career that spanned 24 years.
