For most, the chasm is wide. But for those capable of stepping across it, the line between good and great is a fine one.
There has never been any question what type of “g” Chris Paddack believes he is. Certainly, along the way to a good rookie season with the Padres he has shown signs that great is within his reach.
It is so close. And that bugs him.
The frustration drips from every word, from almost every syllable he angrily spits out as if it tastes like dirt.
“I’m missing that one more piece,” Paddack said this week.
