PEORIA, Ariz. — Andrew Cashner opened Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Angels with a 37-pitch inning.
The Padres right-hander would be lifted after a total of 3 1/3 innings, six hits (two home runs), six runs, three walks and two strikeouts. He threw 85 pitches, including 53 strikes.
If this were the regular season, there would be more concern. This being spring training, Cashner wasn't sweating any of the numbers. (In five Cactus League starts, he compiled a 4.91 ERA.)
His final tune-up start will come Friday, in an exhibition game against the Chicago White Sox at Petco Park.
