Cashner leaves start with leg cramping

The results middling on the mound, Andrew Cashner used his legs to give the Padres a fighting chance against the Mets. Then he walked off the mound with a slight right hamstring cramp a half-inning after nearly – maybe virtually – scoring the tying run.

Padres manager Andy Green and a trainer visited Cashner four pitches into the sixth inning. After a brief conversation, the 29-year-old right-hander departed in a game the Mets were leading 4-2 in the sixth inning.

Cashner allowed three runs on nine hits, a walk and a hit batter in five-plus innings while striking out one.
