The Padres announced a package on moves on Monday, including the outright of Seth Mejias-Brean and Carl Edwards Jr and the designation of both Jacob Nix and Eric Yardley.
We all know about the 40-man roster crunch falling on front office shoulders this offseason, and these moves are mostly about paring down the roster accordingly.
Mejias-Brean is an older “non-prospect” player who actually performed pretty well across two levels last year, even earning his first cup of coffee. Unfortunately, there isn’t much need in the org for a third baseman.
