Blash blasts second homer in Padres' win

MESA, Ariz. — Colin Rea has turned in better days this spring. The Padres’ offense had not.

Playing their first game with bench coach Mark McGwire seated next to Andy Green, the Padres turned in their best offensive showing of the spring in a 10-2 win over the Cubs at Sloan Park. Youngsters Manuel Margot and Jose Pirela each had two hits, Alexei Ramirez hit his first homer since signing with the team and Rule-5 outfielder Jabari Blash blasted his second long-ball, a moon-shot to left in the Padres’ four-run sixth inning.

“He’s got an obscene amount of power,” Padres manager Andy Green said after the Padres improved to 4-9-1 in Cactus League play.
