Benches clear after Arenado nearly plunked

DENVER -- Lingering tension from last night's Padres-Rockies game when Manuel Margot took a 95-mph fastball to the ribs that sent him to the disabled list clearly carried over.

A pitch thrown behind Nolan Arenado by Luis Perdomo on Wednesday in the third inning incited a benches-clearing scuffle in the Rockies' infield, led by Arenado charging the mound.

After the dust settled, Perdomo and Arenado were ejected as were Padres catcher A.J. Ellis, Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez and left fielder Gerardo Parra.
