Beardless Thames hits 1st HR since return

ATLANTA -- The Padres ended their 10-game road trip on Sunday by striking out 17 times, and they didn't collect a hit until the seventh inning of their 4-1 loss to the Braves at SunTrust Park.

Braves righty Julio Teheran struck out 11 Padres in his six no-hit innings before San Diego threatened once Teheran was lifted for right-hander Shane Carle, who gave up back-to-back one-out singles to Cory Spangenberg and Freddy Galvis to bring the go-ahead run to the plate in the top of the seventh. But whatever momentum the Padres conjured up was short-lived, as Carle retired the side with a strikeout and groundout.
