The Padres returned to Petco Park with the National League’s best record. Their record, 17 games into the season, was tied for the third-best start in franchise history, matching the 11-6 marks set by the 1991 and 2010 squads and trailing only the 1984 (12-5) and 1998 (14-3) teams.
It’s a nice position to be in, to be sure.
However, it does not, General Manger A.J. Preller said Monday, alter their plans for the season, in particular the way they’ve aligned the rotation to start the year.
“It’s good that we’ve gotten off to a decent start,” Preller said, “but there’s not much different from a planning standpoint.
