LOS ANGELES — Each time Andrew Cashner leaves the bullpen for the mound, Darren Balsley thinks the same thing: Today is the day.
Today, is the day that Cashner rediscovers the path he’s strayed from.
“Entering each and every game I think it’s going to come back,” the Padres’ 14th-year pitching coach said Friday afternoon. “I’ve seen what he was a couple of years ago. I’ve seen it in his side sessions. I’ve seen it in the majority of his games.
“He just has to string it all together.”
Friday, was not that day.
