Major League Baseball kicked off All-Star Saturday by trading bats for yoga mats.
“This is a very San Diego event,” said Padres vice president Tom Seidler, as nearly 1,000 people gathered at Waterfront Park for the 8 a.m. session of Soul Pose MLB All-Star Yoga. “Hopefully, this will become a tradition for Major League Baseball.”
Most of the yogis were women, and many were not passionate baseball fans. At least, that’s what Seidler hoped.
“Look at this turnout,” he said, as hundreds limbered up on the broad lawn opposite San Diego Bay. “For the folks in the community that aren’t yet baseball fans, this is a good way for us to introduce ourselves.
