MEXICO CITY – Veteran shortstop Alexei Ramirez was scratched from today’s San Diego-Houston game after becoming sick overnight, Padres manager Andy Green said.
Ramirez, an All-Star in 2014 with the the Chicago White Sox, played in Saturday’s Mexico City Series opener against Houston, finishing 1-for-3 in the Padres 11-1 loss to the Astros.
“He got something, no one’s sure what,” Green said. “He was vomiting, so he’s out of the lineup today. He got checked out by doctors. He’ll be fine.”
Green said no other players were affected. The Padres and Astros finish the two-game series today at Estadio Fray Nano.
