Especially right-handed a year ago, the Padres spent a great deal of the offseason balancing a flawed lineup. Lot of good that will do this weekend with two projected weapons against right-handed pitching – the left-handed Cory Spangenberg and switch-hitter Yangervis Solarte – still sidelined as the Mets throw four of the game’s more productive right-handers at the Padres.
“I think (Spangenberg) and Solarte, they balance out the string of righties we're running out there,” Padres manager Andy Green acknowledged Wednesday morning. “We're very right-handed dominant right now and those guys are stabilizers against tough right-handed pitching, and we're going to see some tough right-handed pitching the next few days with the Mets coming to town.
