American League 3, National League 2
July 11, 2006, PNC Park, Pittsburgh
Starting pitchers: Kenny Rogers, Rangers; Brad Penny, Dodgers.
Managers: Ozzie Guillen, White Sox; Phil Garner, Astros.
MVP: Michael Young, Rangers.
Highlight: Solo home runs, first by the AL’s Vladimir Guerrero, then by the NL’s David Wright, made it a 1-1 game in the second inning. The NL scored again in the second when Carlos Beltran came home after a single, advancing on a throw home and stealing third base. The 2-1 lead looked like it would hold up to give the NL its first win in a decade.
