58th All-Star Game: Tim Raines breaks scoreless tie in 13th

National League 2, American League 0 (13)

July 14, 1987, Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, Oakland

Starting pitchers: Mike Scott, Astros; Bret Saberhagen, Royals.

Managers: Davey Johnson, Mets; John McNamara, Red Sox.

MVP: Tim Raines, Expos.

Highlight: The game was scoreless for 12 innings before Raines came through with a two-out, two-run triple in the top of the 13th inning. No All-Star Game had ever gone more than five scoreless innings. This more than doubled that. The AL nearly won in the ninth inning when Dave Winfield tried scoring from second base on a botched double play, but he was thrown out at the plate by pitcher Steve Bedrosian.
