39th All-Star Game: Mays' run in first holds up in 1-0 NL win

National League 1, American League 0

July 9, 1968, Astrodome, Houston

Starting pitchers: Luis Tiant, Indians; Don Drysdale, Dodgers.

Managers: Dick Williams, Red Sox; Red Schoendienst, Cardinals.

MVP: Willie Mays, Giants.

Highlight: In the Year of the Pitcher, it was only fitting that the teams play the lowest scoring contest in All-Star Game history. The AL collected only three hits while the NL had five hits. The NL threw four future Hall of Famers — Drysdale, Juan Marichal, Steve Carlton and Tom Seaver — at the AL over the first eight innings.
