There were a lot of really good players that weren’t tendered a contract before the Monday night deadline, and several of them could be targets for the San Diego Padres this offseason.
Now, one thing to keep in mind when considering non-tendered players is that the team who owned the rights to them thought they weren’t a good enough player to keep.
But sometimes teams are just in a different position and certain players are more valuable to other teams.
For instance, a rebuilding team like the Baltimore Orioles didn’t think it was financially smart to keep someone like Jonathan Villar who was set to make close to $10 million in arbitration.
