Ryan Weathers began his journey to the major leagues as a star for Loretto High School in Loretto, Tennessee. As a senior in 2018, Weathers was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year after going 11-0 and finishing with an ERA of 0.09 and 148 strikeouts in 76 innings.
Weathers committed to play for Vanderbilt University following his high school career but ended up signing with the Padres after they drafted him with the seventh-overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft. His professional debut came with the Padres in the Arizona League before spending both the 2018 and 2019 season with the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
