SAN ANTONIO – Remember that profanity-laced chewing out coach Gregg Popovich directed at the team during a timeout in the third period of Saturday’s win over Memphis?
Two players said the G-rated version of the tirade boiled down to this: Keep it simple, stupid.
That’s keep it simple as in passing. The Spurs committed six of their 18 turnovers in the third, thus Popovich’s tongue lashing.
“That’s what Pop has harped on a lot, just make the simple pass to the open guy, keep the game simple,” point guard Patty Mills said. “That’s usually when we move the ball really well, just hitting the open guy when he has an uncontested shot.
