Having recognized Tim Duncan all the way back in 1997 after his standout career at Wake Forest, the U.S. Virgin Islands’ legislative body will honor the Spurs star for his similar greatness in the NBA.
The resolution to honor Duncan was passed by unanimous vote of the territory’s 31st Legislature.
Duncan will be presented with a special perma-plaque in honor of “his outstanding professional accomplishments throughout his NBA and international career.” Spurs owner Peter Holt and the organization will be presented with a similar plaque.
“(Duncan) is not someone who likes to publicly boast about his accomplishments or philanthropy,” Senate president Neville James said via release.
