Brooklyn Nets forward Thomas Robinson is expected opt out of the final season of a two-year deal the Express-News has learned.
Robinson averaged 4.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 71 games with the Nets last season.
By electing to forgo the final year of his contract, Robinson would forfeit a little more than $1 million he is scheduled to make in the 2016-17 season.
But with the NBA salary cap expected to jump to roughly $92 million next season, Robinson could recoup that amount on his next contract.
Question becomes: If Robinson does opt out, where could the former first round pick (fifth overall in the 2012 draft) end up?
