The Spurs seem to be struggling with their identity

After beginning the season on a 4-1 tear, it’s been difficult to find silver linings in the play of the San Antonio Spurs. It’s not that there aren’t any, it’s just that the cloud is so freaking big, dark, and (after losses to the Boston Celtics and the Memphis Grizzlies) apparently growing.

On this episode of the Superfluous Poppycock podcast, Wayne Vore and I discuss the foundational issues the 5-5 Spurs are facing -- and it ain’t pretty. Between LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan seemingly going through the motions in the first 10 games, and Aldridge’s suspect defense; from Dejounte Murray’s good/bad/ugly to Derrick White being the best decision-maker on the team; from the team’s issues forcing turnovers to the offense’s crunch-time difficulties, it all adds up to a 5-5 team that’s trending down after losing four of its last five.
