Last night the San Antonio Spurs were led by second year standout Derrick White. As he has already established himself in this series and on the Spurs roster, the young guard had his NBA career high scoring in the first half.
His 26 points during the first 24 minutes put him in a category previously limited to two past players whose names resonate with Spurs fans, NBA fans, and almost anyone who knows the best players of the last two decades.
In addition to White’s big night, Rudy Gay had his first career playoff double-double and DeMar DeRozan had a 19 point third quarter after being limited to four points in the first half.
