Having been rebuffed in their efforts to land superstar free agent Kevin Durant, the Spurs have pivoted to pursue another player who in any other summer would have made their offseason.
Pau Gasol.
With Tim Duncan’s status for next season up in the air, and with the Spurs’ cap situation clarified now that Durant has chosen to play for Golden State, the Spurs have honed in on Gasol as a capable Plan B addition, league sources say.
The Spurs will face some competition for the services for the six-time All-Star big man, who turns 36 on Wednesday.
