The Spurs had their fingerprints all over several categories in the NBA’s annual GM survey, released Tuesday. “Team Most Likely To Win the Championship” was not one of them.
In the survey, produced by NBA.com, league general managers select Kawhi Leonard as the NBA’s top defender, tab LaMarcus Aldridge as the most impactful free agent acquisition and Gregg Popovich as the league’s top coach.
They pick the Cleveland Cavaliers to win their first-ever championship. The Spurs were the second-most popular choice, polling at 25 percent to the Cavs’ 53.6 percent.
In other results, the Spurs were the overwhelming choice as the team that made the best offseason moves, notably adding Aldridge and David West.
