Spurs will be without their top rebounder against Grizzlies

SAN ANTONIO – Spurs power forward LaMarcus Aldridge will sit out Saturday night’s game with the Memphis Grizzlies, coach Gregg Popovich said.

Aldridge twisted his left ankle when he stepped on the foot of New Orleans’ Alonzo Gee in the first period of Friday night’s 104-90 loss to the Pelicans.

It’s uncertain who will start in place of Aldridge, who is second on the Spurs in scoring behind Kawhi Leonard, with a per-game average of 15.3 points. Aldridge leads the team in rebounding, averaging 9.9 board per game.

“We haven’t decided yet,” Popovich said when asked who would start in Aldridge’s place.
