Spurs update injury report to include an up-and-coming player

SAN ANTONIO – The Spurs have updated their injury report for Friday night’s game at Houston to include Dejounte Murray.

Murray, a second-year point guard, has a right hip contusion, according to a release issued Friday afternoon by the team. He joins All-NBA forward Kawhi Leonard (right quadriceps tendinopathy) and point guard Tony Parker (left quadriceps tendon surgery) as players who will sit out the preseason finale.

Murray is expected to be in the starting lineup when the Spurs open the season Oct. 18 at home against Minnesota. He could hang on to that role well into the season since Parker isn’t expected to return until November or December.
