After making the obvious decision to select Victor Wembanyama with the top pick in the 2023 NBA draft, the Spurs made a somewhat surprising move. Instead of adding another rookie with the 33rd overall pick, they traded it to the Timberwolves for two future second-rounders, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Leading up the the draft there was a lot of speculation about the Spurs potentially using their two second-round picks to attempt to move to the first round, but as the night went on, it became clear that there were not going to be any big trades involving San Antonio.
