Spurs’ Leonard, Popovich finalists for NBA awards

SAN ANTONIO – As expected, Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard is one of the three finalists for two of the NBA’s most prestigious awards, the league announced Friday night.

Leonard, along with Houston’s James Harden and Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook, is a finalist for the most valuable player award. And he’s competing for his third-straight defensive player of the year award with Golden State’s Draymond Green and Utah’s Rudy Gobert.

The winners will be announced June 26.
