Spurs guard Danny Green did not play in the second half of the Spurs’ 94-90 victory over Miami on Monday. Coach Gregg Popovich characterized the move as both precautionary and injury-related.
“He felt something in his groin,” Popovich said. “He got kicked once, and then another time he felt something. So I just decided not to play him.”
Having missed eight games already this season with a thigh injury, Green wanted to return to the game in the second half, but understands Popovich’s concern.
“I caught a knee,” Green said.
The Spurs don’t take knees to the groin lightly after what happened to Manu Ginobili last season against New Orleans.
