This afternoon’s church shooting in nearby Sutherland Springs has cast a pall over the Spurs-Phoenix game at the AT&T Center. The Spurs will hold a moment of silence for the victims before tipoff. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich did not address the shooting in his pregame meeting with reporters, but was clearly shaken.
In the Spurs’ locker room before the game, center Pau Gasol called for an examination of America’s gun laws in the wake of yet another mass shooting, this one 30 miles or so from the Spurs’ home arena.
“I mean, to me it’s gotten out of control,” Gasol said.
