SAN ANTONIO – LaMarcus Aldridge’s teammates reacted with surprise Thursday to reports of the Spurs being open to trading the six-time All-Star.
Pau Gasol, who is expected to team with Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard to give the Spurs arguably the best frontcourt in the NBA, said he first read of the rumors in a Spanish newspaper.
“It’s weird to hear that type of rumor, especially at this point of the season,” Gasol said.
Asked if the rumors are a distraction for the Spurs as they prepare for Friday’s preseason finale against the Houston Rockets, Gasol said, “Not at all.
