In purely statistical terms, the odds of the Spurs landing a rotation player with 29th overall pick in Thursday’s draft rate slightly worse than a coin flip.
As he searches for players who might better help fill out next season’s roster, Spurs general manager R.C. Buford could find himself looking to past drafts.
The Spurs hold rights to 14 previous draft picks now toiling overseas or elsewhere. This summer, the time could be ripe to bring some of them over.
“I would guess at least one of those guys (will join the Spurs),” Buford said. “Maybe more.
