The Spurs appear on the verge of losing another front-office hand.
Assistant general manager Scott Layden has emerged as the front-runner for the Timberwolves GM job and could finalize a contract within the week, according to multiple reports out of Minnesota.
Layden, 57, was formerly the general manager of the New York Knicks. He joined the Spurs’ staff in 2012.
Layden would become the Spurs’ second front office assistant to depart in four months. Sean Marks left in February to become general manager of the Brooklyn Nets.
