Spurs advance to Summer League quarterfinals

The Spurs raced out to an early 18-point lead and held on down the stretch behind Kyle Anderson’s game-high 25 points to reach the quarterfinals of the Las Vegas Summer League with a 74-71 victory over Brooklyn on Thursday.

The Spurs also got 18 points and five assists from the recently-signed Jonathan Simmons, including a key layup that gave them a three-point lead in the final seconds. They advance to face Atlanta in the tournament quarterfinals.

Anderson, who also had eight rebounds and two blocked shots, is now averaging 22.3 points in four games, second in Las Vegas behind New Orleans’ Seth Curry.
