San Antonio Spurs fans thought the team may have been done in free agency after they signed DeMarre Carroll to a two-year, $13 million deal to add some veteran depth on the wing.
However, they reportedly reworked Carroll’s contract to make it a three-year, $21 million deal which allowed them to open up the mid-level exception again after clearing cap space by trading Davis Bertans to Washington.
The Spurs used that financial flexibility to sign the best free agent on the market at the time by offering Marcus Morris a two-year, $20 million deal that he reportedly committed to signing.
