Only one San Antonio Spurs assistant coach, James Borrego, received a full-time head coach gig this summer, with the Charlotte Hornets, taking over for Steve Clifford. Former assistant, Mike Budenholzer, even found his second head-coach job, too, with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Malik Rose, who played on San Antonio’s first two championship teams, has remained in the game, as well. with an executive job for the past three seasons. He recently acted as the general manager of the Erie Bayhawks, winning the G League Executive of the Year award for the 2017-18 season.
Well, Rose just took another leap towards becoming an NBA general manager.
