Shooting woes got the best of the San Antonio Spurs in their first matchup of the season against the Atlanta Hawks. Only four of 11 players that logged minutes tonight shot 50% or better from the field including just two of the five starters.
Righting the ship, as usual with this team trailing, was marquee wing DeMar DeRozan, whose full line of 22 points, four boards, four assists, three steals and two blocks wasn’t quite enough to pull his team to victory. Utilizing his size advantage and crafty ball handling, DeRozan got his shots off with ease while managing to keep his teammates involved and stay active on the defensive end of the floor.
