When Tony Parker was first out of the lineup to start the 2017-18 season, Dejounte Murray briefly took the point guard reins. Multiple double-digit rebound games and double-double performances followed, which flashed the upside of this second-year point guard and what he can bring to the table for the San Antonio Spurs.
After a spell on the bench, in limited playing time, head coach Gregg Popovich moved Parker to the bench and made Murray the full-time starting point guard in January. It’s a move that stuck and may remain the case for future seasons.
